Other factors like certain medications can have taste-altering side effects. Even a common cold, sinus infection, or gum disease can temporarily mess with your taste buds. Hormonal changes, like during pregnancy, can also cause unusual tastes.

So, what can you do? Good oral hygiene is key: brush and floss thoroughly twice a day, especially before bed, and don’t forget your tongue! Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water throughout the day. Try to avoid late-night meals, especially heavy or spicy ones, and if acid reflux is an issue, elevate your head when you sleep.
